Mid January 2018

Hotel Daimaru was conveniently located a 2min walk to Akakura Onsen lifts, the hotel rooms were huge by Japanese standards- plenty of room for laying out damp snow gear.

The breakfast buffet was good and lockable snowboard racks in the downstairs storage room was a bonus.

Great location, good value and epic Myoko powder.

We had a great time at Hotel Daimaru.

Our rating would be excellent for service, breakfast, onsen and location. Medium for hotel maintenance as it really needs some light renovation work (paints are peeling, carpet is very old and worn).Having said that, i would go back and hope for a little refresher of the place

HUGE snowfalls in Myoko but the whole ski area layout unfortunately is a logistical challenge and pretty tiring on kids in particular with all the walking and poor lift connectivity. The skifields are pretty flat too and you need steeper terrain for those snow fall quantities.

Whilst clean and Huge rooms the Daimaru is really really tired with wallpaper peeling off etc. The colours of the dated interior, vinyl floors and carpet etc was so bad it was laughable and everyone had a great joke about it. That said I would still recommend it and it was fine.Hint for future bookings: You dont want to be in a room facing the road at Daimaru. The noise of the snow movers every night between 2am and 5am was pretty bad and caused sleeping challenges.

Your assistance in this trip was fantastic.

Thanks so much again.Guy

Early January 2016

Hotel Daimaru was an interesting place to stay. On the downside it is very rundown and in need of some renovation. However it is clean and comfortable with large rooms and the staff were really friendly and helpful. It is an easy walk to chairlifts at akakura onsen resort and from there access to Akakan resort was convenient. It is also possible to walk through the village to the Akakan resort. We travelled on the shuttle bus to nearby suginohara resort and had 2 great days there with good snow and no crowds. We had exceptionally good service at Spicy snowboard/ski hire shop, their equipment was good, well maintained and the staff went out of their way to ensure we had suitable gear.
