Early January 2014

Overall, very happy with the Meteor. Our one suggestion is that it would be nice if they offered Dinner. Even if this was a set menu and had to be pre-booked, having the option of not going out would be nice.

Feb 2013

We stayed at the Hakuba Meteor Pension in February 2013. We travelled as a family of four to Japan to the first time, to visit our son who was working as a ski instructor in Happo One.

The accommodation was perfect for us, close enough to the slopes and also bars and restaurants at Echoland and Happo One, whilst still retaining a peaceful character. We had a loft room, and shared Japanese style bathrooms which were interesting!

Tetsu and his family who run the Meteor Pension were really helpful, they took us to the slopes and wherever we asked in the minibus, and the accommodation was friendly, clean and traditional. We loved it and would definitely stay here again.

Jan 2012

I stayed in the Meteor Pension for seven days and found it to be an excellent place to base my skiing holiday.

The communal spaces are cosy, and aesthetically pleasing, the room was all I needed and the staff were great. They're extremely generous, super helpful and lots of fun.

The Pension is not that close to the action and you have to catch a shuttle bus to lifts but its free that wasn't a hassle at all. It meant the price was much lower.

The snow was okay but not brilliant, I was hoping for some powder but wasn't to be.

February 2011

My friend and I stayed at Meteor Pension at the beginning of February 2011. We had a fantastic time, partly due to the epic snow conditions, but mostly due to the hospitality and approachability of the staff at Meteor Pension. They made us feel at home and gave us all the information we required about buses, lifts, best resort to ski that particular day etc. They went above and beyond what I would generally recieve at a Pension Hotel. They always have an English speaking staff member working- We had arrogantly gone to their country speaking very little Japanese, however they did their very best to translate our queries- even going so far as calling another hotel to act as a translator when their English speaking son, Yuigi had gone to pick up some guests from the bus terminal!

The facilities are very good, with large rooms and welcoming communal areas.

The location is also fantastic, just behind Echoland. It is central to all resorts, and while not being the closest to one resort, its location makes all theresorts between a 5 and 20 minutes shuttle bus ride from Meteor. Definitely will be returning next season!

Jan 2011

We really enjoyed our stay at the Meteor Pension - the family who run it are very friendly and keen to help, and any language difficulties were easily overcome.

The location is great, in Echoland - lots of restaurants nearby, easy access to onsens, and good transport options for getting to most of the resorts.

The continental breakfast was good value (the cooked breakfast didn't look that great).

Our room wasn't huge but was well heated (apart from the bathroom, which was arctic!) and comfortable. We saw one of the rooms at the next-door Meteor Lodge - the beds are bigger and the room a bit bigger, but there didn't seem a huge difference.

Overall, it was a really nice place to stay and seemed like really good value. We'll definitely stay there again if we return to Hakuba.
