Alupu Lodge

Mid February 2014 We really enjoyed the trip to Happo-One.

Accommodation: Perfect location directly in-front of the lift/slope. I would highly recommend a room with bathroom. After skiing we really enjoyed the open-air hot bath on the roof, which offers enough space for 6 people, reservation should be made in advance.

Mountain: Enough slopes for 2 skiing-days. Slopes are not very challenging, but always in good conditions.

Service: Especially for non-Japanese-Speaker it was very convenient to be supported by JapanSnowAccomodation. Also special requests were taken serious & answered in time. Very good organization support.

Mid December 2013. "Our trip to Japan overall was an incredible experience.

The snow at Hakuba was amazing. We thought that we wouldn’t get much being at the beginning of the season, but the day we there, it had already started snowing with a good amount of snow dumped the evening before. The locals were just wonderful and so helpful, despite the communication barrier. I couldn’t praise any more highly of the country.

Our accommodation was adequate for what we paid. The Australian staff, (a young Australian couple) were fantastic. We found communication with the lady of the lodge a bit difficult but got by anyway. She was a little grumpy (we think) but she thawed out towards the last days of our week long stay. Perhaps it was the start of the season, but the lodge was kind of cold and dark, and damp smelling. We noticed though that towards the fourth day of our stay, it was starting to warm up, hence my suspecting that it is because it is just at the beginning of the season.

Having said that, the location was close to perfect, 300 metres from the Gondolas. Lots of eateries close by and as long as you ate local, it wasn’t expensive.

You recommended a great ski rental place (Spicey Rentals) who were so accommodating and even gave our group free helmet rentals and a discount to boot.

The mountain was just incredible. Where we stayed was so central, we didn’t feel the need to travel to other mountains. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to ski / board all four days, but we had an amazing time anyway.

Thank you for tending to our snow booking and the great recommendations. There are so many places in the world to visit, but if and when we choose to do another snow trip in Japan, we will book through you again.

"Alupu is a very quant and cosy lodge in a very good location a 2 minute walk to happo gondula station.

The owners are very accommodating and go out of their way to help.

They provide a driving service to other mountains when needed, the breakfast is very good and sets you up for the day.

We stayed in the japanese style room with tatami mats that was very comfortable after a day boarding. The outdoor jacuzzi was perfect to relax outside surrounded by snow.

It is a bit of a walk to echoland but if you want to go for dinner the lodge will drop you to the area and a regular bus goes that can take you back. Wadano area is a 10 minute walk . There are plenty of onsens in walking distance also.

The lodge is quiet which is good, but you can meet people staying here in there cute common area down stairs.

I would recommend staying here it felt like you were staying in someones home and you feel very welcome!"
