Metoiya - So

Our stay at Meitoya So was interesting.

Apart from not speaking much English at all (Thank god for google translate) we had a good time. There was a lady that thought she could speak and understand English, but she couldn’t.

We asked if we could book into the restaurant for dinner on one of our nights of our stay, to which they replied with NO. Some nights the restaurant still had tables available so I couldn’t understand why we could not book.

Later that week, I decided to try once again and asked if we could book the restaurant for the last night of our stay. After some procrastination and deliberation, they finally came and confirmed that we could eat at the restaurant on our last night.

Warm regards,
Graham

As you know we spent time at Zao Onsen in Meitoya-so.  The rooms were good and generous size. The Onsens also were good, with an outside option.  We only had breakfast included, so I can only comment on that.  It was basic, having more selection with tradional food.

The motel was in a good position,  but we thought that there may have been a shuttle to drop us off to the gondola, but instead we walked about 10 mins up the road to it.  All in all the town seemed a lot busier with westerners this time, and we noticed that it was harder to get into restaurants in the evenings.  Booking ahead seemed necessary.   This was also our most expensive stay.  Unsure if we would go back again.
