The Mountain
Sahoro is another lesser known resort in Hokkaido, which has variety of courses for all levels. A new chairlift was launched in December 2016 which created a whole new area on the north side of the mountain.

Where to stay
We reccomend staying at the Sahoro Resort Hotel, which is a cozy hotel with only 165 rooms. It has a relaxed atomosphere. It would be perfect for families & friends who would like to spend a relaxing all inclusive snow holidays at the base hotel of the resort. The resturant quality is pretty high an they serve daily fresh baked bread made of 100 % Hokkaido wheet flour at the breakfast buffet. You have 3 choices for dinner, Hokkaido buffet, Sahoro Garden (French) or Yukizasa  (Japanese)

The location
The closest airport is Obihiro but you can also fly into Sapporo (New Chitose Airport). From Obihiro airport, it is 80 minutes by bus. From New Chitose Airport, it is 2 hours by Sahoro Express airport bus. If you are catching the train from Sapporo, the nearest train station for Sahoro is Shintoku station. Sahoro Resort Hotel runs free shuttle between Shintoku station, which we can book for you.

02 February, 2025

We really enjoyed our stay at Sahoro - everything was great. I didn’t ski unfortunately due to having back surgery in december but the hotel was great. Food was excellent & it has the best onsen i’ve been in & I always stay at places with an onsen, so i’ve been to lots of them. The only negative is that one day lots of people came from Furano to ski due to the weather & in the afternoon lots of them came to use the onsen. I don’t know if they paid to do so or just walked in. The onsen should only be for hotel guests. I know other guests commented on this too.

Can you let me know when rates are available for the next season as ! want to discuss a family trip in December.

Thanks
Monica

Late Feb 2024

Snow conditions this trip have been a little 'Australian- like on a good year' with good cover, occasional snow sprinkling + icy at times! We loved Rusutsu for the views & long runs. Sahoro was a lovely contrast with it's quiet  setting, low key ambience + with an excellent Japanese restaurant. We've enjoyed the fresh Hokkaido seafood. By the  way, it's snowing steadily now & we're leaving!!!!
We'll have to come back ;) Thanks for your assistance as usual.
Warm regards,

Cristina & Richard

Early Feb 2024

This ski resort also has a Cub Med, although we stayed in the only other accommodation available, the Sahoro Resort Hotel. We had full board with delicious breakfast and dinner and there is a lovely onsen on site. We enjoyed the skiing but 2 days of very windy weather closed the lifts which mainly limited us to our hotel.

Sahoro Resort Hotel was fantastic. The rooms were spacious and had a sofa and small table and chairs. There was hanging space in a small entrance way and hooks for hanging coats etc. The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful, although not a lot of English spoken. The French restaurant was delicious and breakfast each day had a wide variety of food to select from.  The drying room and ski lockers were very convenient and there were attendants, one who spoke excellent English, always on hand to assist. The indoor onsen, outdoor rotemburo, sauna and cold plunge pool were fabulous. Skiing at the resort was very good but if you are after black runs, they don’t open up the area of the mountain with black runs until they have a good snow cover, usually  in Mid February. In saying that, there is still plenty of runs , with some black runs throughout the rest of the resort. There is a shuttle bus that will take you up to the main gondola station or you can walk across the road and catch a chairlift up to the main ski area. There is a free shuttle bus from Shintoku station to transport you to and from the resort. We also used the shuttle to pop into town for a few things. I would definitely stay at this resort again and highly recommend it. Once again, thank you for everything you do for us.
You make our holidays so enjoyable.
Cheers,
Sharon

Late December 2017

One word needed Hisae about our stay. EXCELLENT

Staff, facilities, food, etc... ALL EXCELLENT!
The only downside to our stay was that we lost 2 days of our ski passes (3 people) because of Bad weather. There should be a better way to manage this as the 2 Beginner lifts were open but the rest of the mountain was closed, not a good result for experienced skiers like ourselves who travelled a long way. Thank you
