MADARAO MOUNTAIN RESORT
Madarao - Tangram
Nagano

Madarao.jpg

The Mountain
Madarao Mountain Resort is a small mountain, but it is very popular because of the easy navigation around the mountain, powder tree runs and very friendly atmosphere. Mount Madarao consists of Madarao Mountain Resort on one side & Tangram on the other side and are connected by a lift. Day trips to Nozawa Onsen and Myoko Kogen are also possible. Madarao has about 10 restaurants & bars, so you can enjoy dining out in the small resort village. We have been working with Madarao since 2008 & have close relationships with the resort team. Touma is one of our travel consultants works at Akis Pub and Ski school, so he knows Madarao well.

Where to stay
The most popular accommodation is Madarao Kogen Hotel because it is a ski in and ski out hotel and has great views. But, if you are looking for more western self contained accommodation we reccomend Aki's Apartment in Madarao. Hotel Tangram on the Tangram side is also ski in ski out and only one chairlift away from Madarao.

The Location
The fastest route to Madarao is to fly into Haneda or Narita Airport, catch the airport shuttle bus or train to Tokyo Train Station, take the Shinkansen to IIyama and then take the bus to Madarao. There are also airport shuttle buses and taxis. We will provide you with detailed up to date transfer info and help plan and book all transfers.

Mid Janary

The owners were very friendly people. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Elm Pension and plan to return during March to try snow shoeing as recommended by Toshi-san. The meals were big, filling and delicious. The room was perfectly heated and the beds comfortable. Overall a great experience. Thank-you very much.

Mid February

Owner speaks great English and both he and his wife are very friendly and accommodating! The room had a great alpine view and was spaciaous enough for our gear. Well heated too. No seats in the room though, so you will prob just sleep there. Downstairs has a big tv and dining table to chill out. They served up a great French Dinner and breakfast as well.
