Your first 5 nights stay will be at Hoshino Resorts Tomamu The Tower, which is a ski in ski out hotel with spacious rooms, good facilities and lots of restaurants. Tomamu offers great tree runs, a CAT tour & backcountry tours. From Tomamu you can also make a day trip to Furano on the the complimentary scheduled bus.
Last 3 nights : Sapporo
After your stay in Tomamu you take a 4 hour bus to Hoshino Resort OMO3 Sapporo Susukino for your three night stay in Sapporo, the capital of Hokkaido.
OMO3 Sapporo Susukino by Hoshino Resorts is a brand new hotel opening on 7 January 2022. The hotel is located in the Susukino area which is the hub of Sapporo's nightlife. Guests are encouraged to stay up late & savour all that Sapporo has to offer. The friendly hotel staff are always available to guide you on where to eat & drink and all the local sights & experiences.
There are so many things that you can do, see, eat & shop in Sapporo-city!Tanukikoji street is a highlight... 1km-long arcade with around 200 shops that runs east to west in downtown Sapporo. The roofed arcade starts at Nishi-1-chome and ends at Nishi-7-chome. It can be used regardless of the weather. The arcade was developed during the frontier period.
In 1869, when the Meiji government established the Hokkaido Development Commission in Sapporo, merchant houses and restaurants began to pop up in what is known today the Tanukikoji 2 and 3-chome areas. In 1873, the neighborhood became known as “Tanukikoji.” The arcade, which many travellers visit, features both old and new shops, souvenir shops, and karaoke bars. Every walk through the lively arcade offers a new discovery.
If you want to keep skiing or snowboarding even in Sapporo, there are some good ski resorts you can get access by bus. Sapporo Kokusai is about 90 minutes by bus from Sapporo city. Sapporo Teine is about 60 minutes by bus.

HOSHINO RESORTS TOMAMU
Hokkaido
The mountain
Tomamu is located in Hokkaido prefecture which is the north island of Japan and is the closest full service resort from the airport. Behind the hotel is a snow covered mountain with a 150 hectare skiable area. For those with families, Tomamu is perfect for a family snow holiday in Japan. The kids ski school and kids only area create a relaxed environment for kids to learn & play. English ski and snowboard lessons are available and there are many snow activities even for non-skiers. There are expert only powder areas which you can enter by a simple registration at the Resort Centre, CAT tours & various backcountry tours operated from Tomamu. The majority of guests are families and beginners in Tomamu so the expert only powder areas doesn’t get as crowded as other mountains..
Where to stay
Hoshino Resorts Tomamu operates two full service ski in & out hotels Tomamu The Tower & Risonare Tomamu. The rooms at Tomamu The Tower are open plan and Risonare Tomamu has a choice of one or two bedroom suites with seperate living rooms & spacious bathrooms with spa. In comparison space wise the family quad room at Tomamu The Tower is 58 sqm and at Risonare Tomamu it is 120 sqm. Both Hoshino Resorts Tomamu hotels offer a big range of dining options. The option and Risonare are a bit more upmarket than The Tower. It is also advisable to plan and book your dining even before you arrive.
The Location
The best & easiest travel option is fly into Sapporo (New Chitose Airport) and catch the ski bus, which takes 2 hours to Tomamu. If you are catching trains, there is actually a train station called “Tomamu”. The hotel runs free shuttle bus connecting to your train arrival & departure time. We will help plan your transfers as part of our service. Only 90 minutes after your departure from New Chitose Airport, you'll be checking in after being picked up from Tomamu train station.

Our vacation in Japan was like a fairy tale! Snow and ice, sculptures in Sapporo, and an amazing atmosphere ! Our hotel was 5 minutes from the center, clean and comfortable!
We were even more delighted with the Tomamu resort! Our accomodation in the tower had a wonderful view to a snowy resort.
Ice village was wonderful! Everything was very convenient and thought out! Beauty and snow, mountains and comfort made our vacation the best winter vacation! The largest pool in Japan, hot spring, ice village, restaurants, glass passages! ! Huge thanks to Hisae Cameron, For help in everything! Easy and fast communication, advice and organization - all this helped us to have a beautiful holiday.
Thanks to Tamamu resort and special thanks to Nicholas, for his very professional lessons! He helped me to improve my skills and fix my mistakes. Nicholas was very friendly and professional and I enjoyed my lessons.
Thank you very much

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hoshino Resorts Tomamu, and we mostly enjoyed this stay
We loved the ice village and access for kids (and kidult activities such as sledding) We’re a family with kids and there were plenty of time to do with kids. For the skier family you might need a bit more time to get organised
What we liked
- From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive to our every need.
- The resort itself is beautifully designed, lots of enclosed walk ways making it easy to navigate the reaper facilities ave restaurant.
- Room: Our room was spacious, comfortable, and had a stunning view of the surrounding mountains. And importantly some bay window space that you can try some laundry on
- Skiing - great! fairly short runs but when there is powder this resort really transforms.
- Food: good but prepare yourself for average 3500-5000 yen per person for dinner. Lunch OSS around 1500-2000 depending on what you choose. That days serving sizes are generous.
- The snow- so fluffy and we were lucky to have hit a snow week so lots of powder skiing
- Indoor pool- I mean heated pool in snow under cover - amazing
- Childcare - really loving and caring teacher who accommodated the need for our kid to have lunch but still cost around ¥3500 per hour
Didn’t like:
- Food options were centralised between the towers ands risonaire so every dinner requires a walk in the walkways- which is lovely unless you have young tired kids which makes them feel longer than needed
- Ski lessons- limited English slots and only my for 2 hours so you’re popping around the resort to meet pick up times
- Daycare- expensive but generally available. Really kind teachers. About 3500 yen per hour as at Jan 2025 - not linked to the ski school so you have to do the pick up drop off yourself
- Dinner wait times- for the cheaper options really long wait queues - esp if you have a kid asking when it’s our turn
- Ski hire- limited information on the ski hire - in summary as at 2025 - for normal carve skis it’s about ¥3000 per day - really cheap but also really heavy which makes skiing on powder a lot of work. If you want higher spec skis go to the Tomamu resort centre (a 5 mins resort bus away) - where ski rental double to 6000+ per day but you’ll get proper powder skis / all mountain skis- this was not quite available on the site to read
- Onsen - off site to have to take a bus to get there and though the buses run frequently it’s annoying to wear full snow gear after skiing to catch a bus - that said it is nice and quiet most of the time for this same reason
- Limited on piste dining- really interesting spot in the it’s the first mountain I’ve been on where on piste dining was limited - most dining options were at the bottom of runs which make it really family friendly if you have non skier but also lines were long
All in all a really great ski trip as there are mainly new skiers on the mountain so if you like the more advanced routes it’s usually quite free. Might not go back til the kids can ski independently though as the lessons time are a killer for pick up and drop off

Tomamu & Sapporo package
We had a lovely time in both Sapporo and Tomamu. The Sapporo hotel was a pleasant surprise - spacious, convenient, and simple and good breakfast. It's a pity that we were in Tomamu so early in the season and only one slope was open, plus the ice village wasn't ready, but we were so lucky that snow was good and we had a really wonderful time. The room was spacious enough for all 5 of us to stay in comfortably (that view was gorgeous!), and it was so convenient to be able to just take the lift down and walk out to the slopes. Ski lessons worked beautifully for our kids - the instructors were all so good with them. Food options were amazing as well, though we wish there were more options open in the afternoon. All in, we had a fantastic holiday and everyone's looking forward to our next trip. Thank you for being so accommodating and for helping us with the planning!
