Mid January 2016

We had a great time, hotel was good, but one chair only opens weekends and another chair was closed due to lack of snow but opened on the 25th Jan.

We are looking at next year so will get hold of you when we decide where we are going.

Thanks again.

Mid January 2016

We loved Rockwood Hotel & Spa.

The service was fantastic, and we really appreciated the transfers from the train station and to the airport.

We loved the layout of the resort - it was quick and easy to get around and the views were spectacular. The accommodation was great as well as the food at the hotel and the daily onsen was absolutely necessary.

We'll be back again and hope to explore even more of the mountain then (some areas were not opened up).

Thanks
Alison

The Westin Rusutsu Resort guest reviews

Early Jan 2016

We fully enjoyed our stay at The Westn Rusutsu Resort. The advantage of being able to use facilities of both the resort and the tower make it a fine one stop destination.

After we left Rusutsu we continued travelling around Hokkaido for another couple of weeks, skiing at various other locations..

Thank you for being prompt in dealing with our booking.

I attach a video my son made of the trip which features not only Rusutsu but also other locations in Hokkaido.

Mid Feb 2017

We had a great time at Asahidake!

Lucky enough to have a clear day when we had skins to ski up around the vents. Then new snow on 3 mornings. One day blown out!

Still enjoy Bearmonte, with great onsen and very attentive staff. We would comment that the special food they bring, as a long term guest, is sometimes not as good as just on the Buffet. A lot of crab claws were wasted, and some extra main courses were left abandoned, in favour of buffet.

Cheers, Tony

Mid Feb 2017

Once again we loved Hotel Bearmonte - it was so nice and close to the slopes and every night we looked forward to luxuriating in the Onsen to revive ready for the next day. It was great they had a new ski shop together with snow shoes so that when the rope way was closed we could go for a shuffle.  Food was very good as well - though we all tended to eat too much.

Thanks again for your organisation - everything went smoothly.

Cheers

Mid February 2014

Asahidake & Hotel Bearmonte were definitely the highlight of our trip to Japan

The hotel, staff, food, onsen and conditions on the mountain could not have been better.

I included a photo of Toshi our guide. His professionalism, local knowledge, helpfulness, equipment, and patience made
our day on the mountain with him memorable.

Please remind your western guests that the onsen changes sides daily for men and women. One of our crew did not
know this took a left into the onsen just like the previous day. The women in the onsen had a good laugh when he
started to step into the onsen buck naked,ha!!.

Below are some shots from my trio

Sincerely,
Dennis Purcell

"Asahidake Hotel Bearmonte was excellent.

Location near cable way was perfect for skiing.

Rooms were comfortable, clean and warm.

Breakfasts and dinner at the restaurant were very good.

Onsen was great!

Highlight, however, was attentiveness and service by the staff. For example we bought a bottle of
sake for our group to drink in a room one night and as we were getting into the lift one of the staff ran
over and gave us 5 sake glasses forus to use.".

Late Feb 2017

Your service was great, we had never been to Japan before and explained what type of town we were after and it was exactly what we were after. you communication through the whole booking process was excellent.

Kawamotoya Ryokan was a great place to stay, the room had a wonderful view of the valley and was a nice walk to the bottom of the ski hill. The food and staff were also very good, highly recommended.

Shiga Kogen Prince Hotel

Mid February 2014

Shiga was wonderful. We had forgotten just how good it is. Plenty of variety, good facilities and great snow.

Prince west was very good.  It’s location is excellent.  Long, enjoyable runs right on our doorstep.  We like to get out early and enjoy the snow while it is still in pristine condition.  Prince was perfect for this.

We couldn’t fault the rooms, staff were friendly and helpful.  The bed and breakfast rate was excellent value.   View from our twin room was wonderful (attached photo).  We particularly enjoyed the breakfast arrangement.  Everything from traditional Japanese to cooked western to fruit and yoghurt.

Only negative comment was the dinner arrangement.  Dinner in the hotel was expensive (4,000 yen pp fixed price), and didn’t look that inviting.  We had dinner next door at the Chinese restaurant or walked into Ichinose.  The walk only took about 10 minutes and was actually quite enjoyable.

We certainly plan to return, and will probably stay at Prince West again.  I will be in touch later in the year to get things organised.    I have already recommended the hotel to a couple of people.

Thank you for all your help and advice with the holiday, we are already looking forward to next year’s trip.

January 2014

We had a another terrific holiday skiing in Japan- we all enjoyed it very much.

Shiga Kogen and Nozawa are, as you will be aware, very different and so there were mixed opinions within the family as to which place was best.

Some of us enjoyed Shiga Kogen best as the quality of the snow was great (we had some lovely powder snow while we were there) and there was good access to a large range of different ski areas.

The rooms at the Prince Hotel (East) were comfortable and had a wonderful view onto the slopes and the hotel is absolutely ski in- ski out. The reception staff spoke reasonable english and were very helpful. The lack of internet in the rooms meant that all the guests congregated in the lobby, which was not particularly comfortable or atmospheric, to get wifi access in the late afternoon/evening, at which time the internet became painfully slow.

The hotel food was very nice but very expensive, particularly given that we were travelling with children. The isolation of the hotel meant that there was no other place nearby to visit easily. We were lucky to have a hire car which meant that we could drive to Ichinose for dinner, but it would have been very frustrating (& expensive!) had we not been able to do so as (inter-resort buses did not seem very frequent).

The main criticism of Prince Hotel would be the lack of apres ski activites (no café for a snack, no nice communal gathering area, no easy access to internet). For this reason, if I were staying for any length of time at Shiga Kogen without transport, I might consider accommodation in one of the village resorts.

So, in my view, Shiga Kogen was best for the skiing, and Nozawa was best for the all-round experience. Thank you for your assistance in finding suitable accommodation for us.

I have attached a few of photographs of our two are of my son in the powder at Shiga Kogen.
