Fujio Pension

Early February 2014 Madarao Fujio Pension. My trip to Japan was great.

Madarao ski resort was great. You can also ski the adjoining resort of Tangram circus for an additional 1500 yen.

Pension Fujio was really nice and I enjoyed the meals that Kimmi made.Very reasonable for 2000 yen per meal. Normally around 5 –6 courses.

Very clean rooms and a really nice inside Japanese bath in the basement level.

One thing that I think you should advise people is to book the first nights meal in advance. Its very annoying when you have travelled all day and they tell you you cant have dinner because you need to book the night before.

There are no laundry services which would be good. Had to wash my clothes in the sink in the room. They should buy a washer & dryer.

We had a warm spell before I got to Madarao and was lucky that it turned back to winter and we received heaps of new snow.

Your service was very good and you answered all of my questions in all of my emails.

Thanks for your help. If you have any good specials for next season please let me know.

Mid January 2014 - "Our stay at Fujio Pension at Madarao Kogen was fantastic!

Takeshi and his wife are wonderful hosts and their Pension is very warm, homely and welcoming.

The meals and breakfasts were five out of five stars! Accommodation very comfortable and we felt right at home. Takeshi has a great knowledge on the area and his lifts and pick ups to the slopes everyday was wonderful- saved our sore powder legs! The mountain is great! Excellent snow, great tree skiing, good variety of terrain and nice little restaurants for lunch. Would love to re visit for more exploring!

Thank you Fujio Pension and Japan snow Accommodation (Hisae) for a seamless and wonderful experience.

If you are interested Hisae, I have a snow brand called Forcaster! We are making snow clothing such as beanies, hoodies and tees. Check it out and tell your friends! www.forcastersnow.comwww.facebook.com/forcastersnow

Here are some pics from madarao!!

"we missed the connnecting bus due to an acccident on the railway.

However we rang ahead and Kitamura san met us at the bus.

The service was exceptional, the food was fantastic, we were taken to the ski resort promptly each day and picked up promptly at our convenience.

Our stay was memorable and we would recommend this to others.

Thankyou"

Late Feb 2017

Kogakuro Hotel at Akakura Onsen was good. It is in need of some reburbishment but completely comfortable and clean with a lovely host, Meiko. Good breakfast available, we had a Japanese room which could sleep 3 people, and they have an inside/outside onsen which is clean. The outside bath is covered preventing the fresh snow flakes falling into the bath while bathing, which I like! They gave a nice bar with a real fireplace which is not often found in Japan ski hotels, good for apres ski drinks.

Hisae and her team did a great job to organise our ski trip to Myoko Kogen

Mid February 2014

Trip was great, thanks very much. I think we lucked into the best week of the season for snowfall. No trouble with your service, found it excellent.

Seisenso was OK. It was run by a very nice woman and she was very helpful.

The pension itself though is quite old and could do with a bit of a renovation.

There are only two or three western style toilets in the whole building.

The common area is very small and not heated.

Drying room was too small for the number of people who needed to use it.

Location was good - very central in the town.

The included breakfast was good - good variety of japanese/western options.

Onsen was good.

Early Feb 2017

As on previous occasions everything was wonderful during our stay in Furano. From the very beginning when we arrived at our designated bus stop area in Furano, our lovely host Koitchi was there waiting for us to take us to our accommodation.  He was so helpful that he even picked us up later that evening and drove us to the local supermarket for some groceries. He was so patient waiting for us while we shopped for some supplies.

The house is perfectly set up with two sitting areas and kitchens which suited our group perfectly. The house is also within walking distance to the Kitanomine Gondola each day. There is a lovely coffee house which sells delicious sweets a few doors down the street.

We have stayed at Lodge 10 on previous trips and will continue to book this house anytime we visit Furano.

Booking the house through Japan Snow Accommodation was easy and everything ran smoothly.

Thank you to all parties involved for making our stay so enjoyable!

Cheers,
Rebecca

Late Jan 2016

I had to email and tell you what an amazing trip to Furano we've had.

Your service and advice and assistance in preparing this trip was outstanding and I'm telling everyone I know about you.

The accommodation was superb and please pass onto to the owners that their place is wonderfully equipped, beautiful and more than comfortable for a group or in our case, extended family. We couldn't believe how lucky we were to have a place where we could relax and socialise, cook and have a few drinks with happy kids and happy grandparents all together. You would never get that at a hotel. It is being well maintained by Tatsumi and he was more than helpful when we arrived with explanations, Japanese plugs and a trip into town for groceries. He was very diligent with clearing the steps and path each day of snow and daily rubbish removal.

We rented out gear from the shop in the kitanomine gondola building. They were fantastic and the gear was great. They let us keep all the gear there overnight and keep our walking shoes there during the day which made the walk back to the lodge easy. I would recommend them. Also the ski school run from the same shop were brilliant with the kids. The free mountain host service booked thru the tourist info office in gondola building is an absolute must and our host was terrific and her guidance around the mountains on the first day gave us the knowledge and confidence to use the entire resort for all standard of skiers and boarders in or family.

I could go on and mention how fabulously friendly and helpful and lovely the Japanese people are but you'd know that! Also the food!

Anyway, once again thanks and I will continue to recommend you to others. We will definitely be going back and look forward to dealing with you again,

“From the moment I contacted Japan Snow Accommodation about organising our trip to Japan I received nothing but 5 star quality customer service.

Our land transfers to and from Furano were organised meticulously.

Once arriving in Furano we were greeted by proficient and helpful staff who ushered us directly to our accommodation.

The Furano 10 Lodge exceeded our 5 star expectations. The bedrooms are spacious and the living areas (2 of them) more than happily accommodated our group of 8 people.

Access to the Kitanomine Gondola (main lift) took a comfortable 10 minute walk from the property.

We all thoroughly enjoyed the seamless experience that Hisae and the staff at Japan Snow Accommodation provided for us. I will definitely be asking the team at Japan Snow Accommodation to organise our next trip”.

"The Lodge 10 accommodation was great, everything in the house worked great, was clean and super nice.

Furano was great for snowboarding, no lift lines, great snow and good facilities on the hill.

It was definitely the best snow I have ever ridden.

In the house I might suggest that you have washing machine instructions in English and maybe a coffee machine? But otherwise everything was great."

Thanks Mike

"Furano Lodge 10 was Fantastic.

Such a beautiful view from the Lodge.

The Modern well maintained House was very clean, Large, warm, with all modern fittings.

The Lodge manager was terrific. only a short 5 min walk from the ski runs.

And Furano had amazing snow fall.

I will be returning to this holiday spot."

"Furano lodge 10 is a fantastic modern western style accommodation that is perfect for a group or family.

Close enough to the lifts but far away enough that you have your own private piece of paradise.

The lodge manager is fantastic and is only too happy to provide assistance where needed.

I can't wait to stay there again."

We loved our time in Japan thank you Hisae.  Your assistance with bookings was very efficient and helped make the process seamless. We really enjoyed our stay at Ryokan Jon Nobi and the staff and locals we encountered throughout Nozawa Onsen were friendly, efficient and helpful. We would definitely recommend a stay for families. And importantly, the snow was incredible!

A couple of pics attached for you.

Thank you again Hisae for your help in making our trip so enjoyable.

Late December 2015

Ryokan Jonnobi is ideal for a family who want to experience Japanese style accommodation, in the heart of Nozawa Onsen village. Great location, handy to shops and cafes, and very close to the Yu Road [a travelator “road”] which delivers you to the Hikage ski trail.

Our 2 rooms accommodated our family of 6 comfortably, in tatami rooms with ensuites. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was extensive, catering for both Japanese and western foods experiences. Jonnobi has 2 hot spring rooms which are open to the public, as well as 2 private hot spring rooms for exclusive use by the guests; the latter 2 are open to the sky, so that the snow fell languidly through the opening onto our steaming bodies – a great thrill. Jonnobi ticked all our boxes.

The Hikage ski trail was a great family place, well organized with good instructors, ski equipment hire and plenty of eating choices.

The staff of Japan Snow Accommodation [read Hisae] gave great tips in the planning stages of our visit. eg. Take the bullet train from Tokyo to Iiyama Station and a bus from there to Nozawa Onsen village.

Ryokan Jonnobi is a 5 minute walk from the bus station. The whole experience satisfied all members of our family aged 10 to 74 years.

Mid January 2015

Many thanks for all your time and assistance with booking our Nozwa Onsen experience staying at Jon Nobi Ryokan. We found the accommodation at Jon Nobi very warm, quiet, with comfortable beds after a full day of skiing and the breakfast selection of Asian and western foods each morning contained plenty of choice for both adults and children.

There were two private onsens that could be used exclusively plus a male and female onsen open for all to use. These were all kept very clean and neat. Toiletries and hair dryers were also supplied in the private and public onsen areas that added a lovely touch. Kimonos and slippers were also supplied in our rooms for going to and from the onsens which were quite a novelty for the children.

Jon Nobi is situated in a great location at the top of the town and such an easy walk to the ski field via the moving walkway (Yu Road travelator). A huge plus at the end of each day was the ability to leave our skis at the St. Anton Ski hire rooms. This made the end of a long day skiing with kids so much more pleasurable than having to cart skis and poles back to our accommodation.

The slopes at Nozwa Onsen are great for families wanting to ski together and there is a variety of slopes depending on your skill level and ability with plenty of connecting lifts. There was also a large children's play park at the base of the slopes near St. Anton ski hire centre with rubber tyres and sleds that the children could use.

The only issues we had whilst in Nozwa Onsen was that the Ryokan style of accommodation was probably a bit too small to accommodate a family of 4 all with ski clothing to dry at the end of each day in our room plus all of our luggage. If there had been a drying room on the premises we would have had more room to move. In saying this, we wanted to try the Ryokan style of accommodation to experience a more traditional Japanese style of accommodation. Knowing the layout of a Ryokan and taking into consideration the amount of stuff we all had, we should have booked two rooms side by side.

The only other disappointing issue was as a guest of Jon Nobi we thought that we would have been able to dine in the restaurant at least one night during our stay, however we were told that the restaurant was fully booked during our stay. We since found out that the bookings were from people staying else where and not at Jon Nobi. We thought as guests staying at the Ryokan, we would have had first option to restaurant bookings. That was a bit sad Emoji.

However, the overall experience was wonderful and we enjoyed staying in a different location for part of our holiday. Many thanks again Hisae for all your assistance and for making our holiday in Nozwa Onsen very enjoyable.

Colleen Wyer
