"We had two families (4 adults 5 children) stay at Nozawa House in the first week of April 2012.

The location is great with everything being walking distance, and I think it would be even better earlier in the ski season when you can ski back directly to the house. Because we were there pretty much in spring, the road had just been cleared and also the Hikage Gondola was no longer running. Still, Gabriel our host was very helpful in providing all of us a lift every morning to the main gondola that was still running so there was plenty of fresh snow and good skiing.

There was a starter food pack when we first arrived which was handy indeed but Gabriel also took us to the supermarket to get more supplies and provided good advice on restaurants and the local onsens.

As for the house itself, it suited our families very well. The kids loved being together in the bunk room. We preferred the very roomy Japanese style room and our friends slept in the bedroom on the top floor. The lounge is cozy, the dining area has stunning views and the selection of movies available is endless. The place is highly recommended."

Late January 2017

The hotel was great and the lovely staff gave me a nice thank you letter (I suspect with the help on Google Translate) on departure. My wife, son-in-law and daughter also had a very good time. Food was excellent as usual.

I will certainly be going back next year.

Thanks
Mark

Early Feb 2016

We left Hakkoda this morning and I would like to say that we had an excellent stay there.

We lived Hakkoda for powder skiing, and we loved staying at Hakkoda Resort Hotel, warmest welcome, great rooms, great onsen, outstanding food!

We definitely look forward to coming again next year!

Thanks,

Isabelle & family

Mid March 2015

We had a wonderful time at the Hakkoda Resort Hotel this past weekend. We enjoyed the Ropeway and skiing. The food was very good at the hotel. The rooms were also very nice.

We had one complaint. The hotel allows smoking in the main lobby and upstairs in the sitting area. There is no place in the hotel to go and sit without sitting in smoke. That was very disappointing.

Thank you again for your help in getting us this reservation.

I had a fantastic trip thanks, I really enjoyed staying at the hotel, particularly being able to ski to the door, great food, great onsen, friendly staff and comfortable rooms.

Thanks

Early February 2015

We had an amazing time at hakkoda, the accommodation was great, simple rooms which were clean and warm and we loved the traditional feel of the hotel with large onsens, great japanese food and good hosts. Definitely good value. Easy to get to. Got good conditions and some adventurous skiing and exploring. Hardly saw anyone else once off the telecabine. Worthwhie using a guide for a day or two to get the lay of the land. One thing that was a negative was difficult to get back to the hotel if you take one of the longer routes that dont end at the bottom. E.g. at the onsen. Couldn't figure out how to arrange pick ups. Would definitely go back.

Thanks
Paul.

Early February 2015

Terrific hotel with a very calm and nice japanese touch to it. We loved the variety of food and good choice of sake.
Superb hosts and great staff.

Hakkoda as a mountain is very special. Not the steepest but with a good range of backcountry experience.

Bring a guide if you want to access the more remote areas as you will need a shuttle service back to the ropeway.

We didn't have any new snow but it's said to be one of the places where it snows heaviest in all of Japan (maybe the world?).

Would love to visit both Hakkoda and Hakkoda Resort Hotel again.

5/5!

Early February 2015

we had a terrific time visiting Hakkoda and the resort hotel.

We were lucky to enjoy the mountain with clear blue skies and views were wonderful.

I can also testify to the beautiful quality food that we enjoyed at the hotel. Most enjoyable.

Thank you as well for organising the accommodation and transfers. As you know the Japanese trains work like clockwork and we were delighted to have our transfer waiting for us following our arrival.

We have plenty of photos and some movie and will send to you a little later.

Thanks again for you assistance.

Early January 2015

We really enjoyed Hakkoda Resort Hotel.

The staff were excellent. Friendly and helpful, with excellent English skills. I must apologise for my difficulties trying to speak Japanese.

The location works very well. Close to the chair lift and a bit of a walk to the cable car. The public bus stop is reasonably close but fortunately we had a maxi taxi for travelling to and from Aomori.

Evening banquets were superb. It was a varying treat each night.

Breakfasts were substantial with western options. Like most places the choice cereals was limited.

We had a western room, one of only 4 in the hotel. They are quite spacious but like most accommodation we have stayed at there was limited storage and hanging availability. One needs to live out of a suitcase.

The onsens are generous and functional. No view or highlight but most satisfactory.

There is not much around the Hakkoda base but we were there for the skiing and the mountain and weather treated us to some superb kona yuki skiing.

Late January 2015

Hakkoda was FANTASTIC.

The mountain was epic with the amounts of snow we got, sometimes even too much causing you to get stuck.
also quite scary and disorientating when the weather comes in.

GPS, snow shoes, whistles and powder boards/ skis are a must really on this mountain when the weather is bad..
In saying that, when you get your bearings, there are endless tree runs in almost every direction, and fresh tracks last all day!

The accommodation was great, the staff were friendly, and the food was AMAZING!

I have attached photos!

thanks for all your help getting us there, you made it super easy and we will be heading back for sure!

Shane

That’s me having fun in Hakkoda. (in the pic below)

My husband and I had a great time and in fact will soon be booking again for next year.

The Hakkoda Resort Hotel is very nice and friendly and the food was outstanding. The staff could not be more helpful.

Best wishes

We loved our stay at Hakkoda Resort Hotel.

We stayed in a western room which was spacious & very comfortable.

The food was exceptional, the service good & the mountain awesome.

Hope to get back there.

Mid January 2015

As for your service, it was outstanding. You went out of your way to help me, even after my trip started.

I will surely do business with you guys again.

The hotel was great. The food was also amazing. But you have to be aware, this is a typically Japanese experience. Only thing though, there was some pretty heavy smoking going on in the hotel. This was problematic for me. But aside from the smoking, the hotel was super. Pretty much ski in/out. What can you ask more ?

Thanks for everything,
Me Jean-Frederick Dicaire

Early January 2015

We really enjoyed our stay at Hakkoda. It snowed alot and the skiing was good.

The lodge quiet, our room was clean and comfortable , the food was great and the small onsen a real treat after skiing.

Smoking is allowed in the common areas in the lounge and we did not expect this, so the lounge smelt smokey.

Cindy

Early January 2015

Thank you so much for all your help with organising Hakkoda Resort Hotel! You made it very easy in booking the accommodation and organising my return transfer to Aomori Airport. The hotel itself was amazing

The food was simply to die for!

The rooms were fantastic - always clean and well attended to.

The staff always smiled and although they spoke little English, they always made the effort and appreciated when I attempted to speak Japanese!

The onsen was clean and of course the snow was out of this world!

Thanks again for helping me to organise this (being a solo traveller it can be a bit daunting) and I will definitely be back!

Early March 2014

"Love this place. I've been 5 times in the last 8 years.

I have boarded every single major resort in Japan, and quite a few of the smaller ones, over the last 15 years, some of them multiple times, and Hakkoda is the best for untouched backcountry.

The quieter backcountry routes within an hour's drive of Niseko (Hirafu) for example see more backcountry traffic per week, than Hakkoda sees per season in my guesstimation.

Long untouched runs. Fabulous nature and views. The hotel is fabulous as always with extremely kind and helpful staff, and good Japanese food.

If you are going backcountry get Simon to take you ... for his unparalled knowledge of the mountain, backcountry safety, local insight, and witty stories"

The hotel was great as always. Only complaint is that my room was overlooking the carpark and the snowploughs woke me up very early every day ... but what to do !

Regards
MATT

Mid January 2014 I had a very good time in Hakkoda !

It's quite a unique experience to ski there, it's good that I booked a guide otherwise I'm sure I would have gotten lost!

The hotel was very nice and walking distance to the ropeway, and the booking process was pretty smooth.

You can find some videos on my Youtube page

Mid February 2014 Everything at the Hakkoda Resort Hotel was fantastic.

The service and food were excellent, and I felt very welcomed there. I also very much appreciated your help in not only making the reservation but also helping when I experienced travel difficulties.

Please thank the hotel for their excellent service.

Andrew Crowley

Mid February 2014 Firstly your service was excellent. Prompt, efficient and helpful.

Onto the mountain, I loved Hakkoda.

It helped that it snowed both days, so the conditions were fantastic. Being fairly quiet without too many Westerners also added to the experience. Tram / lift tickets were very reasonably priced, as was lunch at the restaurant.

As for the Resort Hotel, amazing ! The staff couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly. I liked the basement onsen, particularly the fact there was a hot & cold bath, the rooms were comfortable and the facilities in general were as expected.

Dinner was a sensation every night. I just loved what was on offer. It was both a visual and a taste sensation and on reflection some of the best meals of my 3 week trip, and I went to some nice places.

The only 2 small niggles were:
- the rooms were incredibly hot at night, even with the radiator turned down. If I opened the window, the bleeping from the guy clearing the car park early in the morning was incredibly loud.
- bus stop wasn’t that obvious. We waited outside the ropeway, only to discover we had missed the bus to Shin Aomori as it left from the peaked wooden huts 50 m away

Hardly any major issues.

Attached below are some holiday snaps

Mid February 2014 Let me start of by saying that your service at JSA was second to none. I meet many Australians whilst traveling in Japan and I mentioned your company and the great service to many of them.

In regards to the holiday, it was fantastic.

In regards to the Hokkoda Resort Hotel I would like to make the following comments

Overall I was very happy with the hotel and would definitely book there again. The staff were all fantastic and very helpful. The rooms were adequate. The one huge surprise was the quality of the dinners at the hotel. The meals were spectacular and better than many of Melbourne's finest Japanese restaurants where you would pay well over $80 AUD for the same meal.

The only negative comment I have in regards to the hotel was the state of the Onsen. The staff stated it was cleaned regularly but every days I could see things floating in the water. There was mould everywhere on the rook and walls. I visited many Onsens whilst in Japan and this one felt the least healthy. However, that did not distract from my enjoyment of the hotel.

Trust that I will be using your services when I return to Japan next time.

Many thanks
Scott Mahony

I thoroughly enjoyed staying at your hotel, i had a traditional room and found it very comfortable. The hospitality from you and your staff was fantastic, along with your eagerness to help in anyway. The meals were a combination of traditional Japanese and western food which was a good combination.

I cannot wait to return,

Thank you,
Mike Bolzon

Early February 2014 "We loved our stay!"

The staff are extremely helpful and polite.

The rooms are clean, have everything you need, and are comfortable and well presented.

And the food is fantastic!

The resort is at the base of the mountain, right by the lift and ropeway, this is a huge advantage for many reasons.

The mountain is amazing. We got it on bad weather but sill had fun in deep powder and definitely want to return.

The city of Aomori is not too far away and well worth an explore.

Hakkoda has a lot to offer. Highly recommended.

 Sera Price

Mid January 2014 The hotel was very well located, just a short walk from the two man chair and the ropeway(cable car).

The hotel itself was very comfortable, the food was good and varied and the staff very helpful. A number of the staff spoke some English and certainly enough to help answer any questions.

Our room was typical Japanese style, the heating controls were simple and the bedding very comfortable. There was ample storage for skis, boots and ski clothes, including a drying room, although the whole basement area was warm enough to hang jackets etc.

As a skiing destination it lives up to its billing of having great powder and the snow monsters have to be seen to be believed(basically large fir trees encased in snow and ice).
However in January the weather can be very cold with limited visibility at the top of the ropeway plus high winds. Whilst we were there it snowed every day and we tended to ski off the chairlift as there was ample variety, given the snow conditions, with some great tree skiing. Although the runs were relatively short.

From the top of the mountain it is advisable to take a guide in bad visibility(most of the time whilst we were there!). The terrain can be quite tricky and it is very easy to end up in the wrong place and having to walk out, not easy in 100cm of fresh snow!

Early Janualy 2014 We had a fabulous time and our stay at your resort was the highlight of our Japanese holiday.

I hope we will see you again next year.

Debbie

Early January 2014 Wow - powderhounds said that this was powder country and they weren't wrong.

The backcountry riding was fantastic. The weather was abysmal (apart from one day) but then that is the usual in the powder bowls of Japan. The hotel was this quaint little Japanese lodge with a full breakfast and traditional Japanese dinner. Every meal was an adventure. As is usual with the Japanese, the staff couldn't do enough for you. Nice onsen. I'm coming back next year ! Your service was excellent. Prompt and efficient.

Regards, Yusuf

Late February 2014 "We just want to say thank you for all your help. Especially before we had booked with you"

We had a fabulous time at the hakkoda resort hotel with some amazing snow and food.

Everything has gone exactly as you planned it. Hopefully we'll be back next year and will definitely book through you again. "

Thank you
Fiona

Late January 2014 "The Hotel was very good and also the organization of the trip (traveling, cap, trains etc.) worked without a problem. Thank you for your help in this case"

Unfortunately the weather was bad, so we couldn't really enjoy the deep powder and has also no good pictures.

Maybe it would be great, if you advice the guest that the hotel and the ropeway can payed by credit card, but the all other stuff is by cash and there is no ATM available"

Thanks again,
Daniel

Mid January 2014 "The Hakkoda Resort Hotel is very well located a the base of the lift for the Hakkoda Ski Resort.

"You can expect wonderful Japanese hospitality in a very remote location.

The facility provides the basic hotel amenities with a fabulous Onsen.

Do not be afraid to get a Japanese room if the western rooms are not available. The Japanese room includes a western toilet and sink in the room but the shower is downstairs at the Onsen. You sleep on a futon layed out over the delicat rice mat floor. This was not a problem.

The dinner was excellent and the breakfast was adequate. It is mostly Japanese cuisine. Options are available for allergies other dietary needs. If you speak little or no Japanese, it s not a deterrent. We booked thru japansnowaccomodation.com and had excellent service from our representative,Hisae. Hisae was very helpful when we needed to rearrange our shuttle
service. By the way, the snow here is amazing.

There were a few disappointments about the hotel. The Wifi is poor when everyone wants to get on at night. Wifi is available in the lobby for free but there is also smoking allowed in the lobby."

Sheldon K

Mid January 2014 "The accom was fine"

" little bit Faulty towers when it came to breakfast. Needs attention. Dinner was Ok and it would be good if they had a nice lounge area or bar to chill out in.

One of the Aussi Guides that was there spruking in the lodge was a little annoying and spun us full of crap so as we would not find our way around the hill without using a guide. We nutted out the place and found all the exits they were using. Not a good PR person for the lodge. You guys were great thanks."

Andy

December 2012 "The hotel was very good - food was great and staff was friendly"

"The staff has quite limited knowledge in english so it was really good to book through japansnowaccomodation who arranged out arrival and departure. On the downside, the hoteö allowed indoor smoking (probably quite common in japan) so it was quite smelly for a non-smoker."

By Anders and Linda

"During my short stay at Hakkoda Resort, the staff was friendly and accomodating"

"We stayed in a nice tatami room with private bathroom, but no shower. The complimentary onsen was very relaxing and helped soothe the muscles after a long day of shredding the powder on the mountain.

Dinner and breakfast were a nice combination of western and Japanese food, very tasty and quite filling for a large man.

The only odd thing about this hotel was the lock down at 10 pm, but there is not much going on for nightlife, so we didn't miss much.

Thank you Hisae for making the arrangements at this nice hotel."

By Tim

"I only stayed two nights at the Hakkoda Resort Hotel, but it was definitely a good experience"

"The location was great. Staff were friendly (though knowing a little Japanese will certainly come in handy).

And the food was fantastic.

The rooms were comfortable and clean.

One thing that was difficult as a single traveler was the lack of other things to do when not snowboarding (i.e. not much for night life). I saw a bar when I was looking around the hotel, but it wasn't open. So unless you rented a car and can drive back into Aomori, you might be a little bored at night.

Barring that though, the place was great and Hisae was very helpful in making all the accommodations and answering all the questions I had about transportation, etc."

By Pony

"Hakkoda Resort Hotel provides that typical Japanese service with beautiful food and friendly staff"

"If I have a complaint it would be the allowance of smoking in the Hotel, but I know this is a Japanese standard which hopefully will change with time.

We would not hessitate to return to the Hakkoda Resort Hotel.

Thanks again for your work and assistance towards another fantastic Skiing Holiday.

I will contact you again for 2014."

By S.P

"The hotel is very good" - Jean-Francois Veilleux

"The staff is friendly. The bar was close during the stay. The food was very good but for one of my friends it was tough because he don't like fish and for the dinner the only option is fish.

Also a Big thank you for Japan Snow Accomodation to help me to arrange the hotel and the transportation!!! I recommend this hotel."

By Jean-Francois Veilleux

"stayed at Hakkoda Resort Hotel for some days in the beginning of February 2013"

All in the staff was very nice and helpful, the room was nice, and the food was really great.

"It has been 8years for me to use this hotel when winter season comes' Chul-Moon Kim

"the most beneficial thing to me is tat this hotel offers free shuttle bus privileged to passengers with Korea airline.

as I have seen hotel staffs for many years and they have become good friends of mine.

I also have been around many ski places around Japan however I would say this place is best one.

only one thing I disappointed at hotel is wireless internet was not successfully provided.

absoultely I will plan to visit this hotel this year again and next year."

"Had a great time here great snow great staff great people wil definatly stay thier again."

"Took my family from US to Hakkoda as part of our tour through Japan...skiing and experiencing Japan.

Hakkoda is a special place...both for skiers/boarders and general travelers as well. Our stay at the resort hotel was great..

awesome location, they will pick you up when back country and you exit back on the road that circumnavigates Hakkoda mountains.

Hotel rooms were clean, staff friendly, nice onsen, and good food. All good!"

Kinta is amazing. We have been twice and both types were fantastic.

Great snow, lodge is easy walk to slopes, room is spacious with views, spotless and beautifully furnished. Owners are delightful and do everything they can to help you and make you feel at home. The food they serve up is sensational -4 course meals which were delicious. Lovely indoor/ outdoor onsen overlooking the slopes. This is a high quality lodge and is a very relaxing and enjoyable place to stay. I would recommend it to anyone and both times we went we were so impressed with everything.

Loved it!

6th February 2014

My friends and I have just returned from our Japanese ski holiday and I just wanted to let you know that we had an amazing time and also wanted to thank you for all the organisation you did for us before hand.

Our stays at all of the lodges were fantastic.

We were overly impressed by the hospitality, the accommodation and helpfulness of Kinta san at Kinta Naeba and the food they cooked for the evening meals was also amazing.

Thanks again for everything you did to help us have a relaxing holiday.

Hotel St Moritz guest reviews

Early January 2017

The hotel is comfortable, though they do not rent snow boards or premium quality skis. They also lack a dedicated drying room, meaning all of our gear had to be dried in our room each night. They provided breakfast as part of our package, but this was suited more to the Japanese taste than the western taste. This could be remedied by simple things such as providing toast.

Great onsen!

We really enjoyed the skiing at Shiga Kogen, but there is no English speaking group skiing lessons available.

We also make the comment that there were very few evening dining options in the village of Ichinose. Almost all evening dining was associated with a hotel and getting in if you were not a guest was virtually impossible.  We didn't eat at out hotel as their menu was not western child friendly and expensive. When the one ramen place closed for two nights, we had to eat instant noodles from  a convenience store.

Overall, we enjoyed our trip, but won't go back until our kids are past lessons and the resort offers more variety of dining.

Mid January 2016

We all had a wonderful 4 week holiday in Japan. We stayed in January 2016

Thank you so much for organising our stay at St Moritz Shiga Kogen. It was our 3rd visit to Shiga Kogen and our first time staying at St Moritz Hotel.

Firstly it was an easy 5 min walk from the Ichinose Bus stop ok in good weather to walk.

We were welcomed my the manager and his wife and informed about all the facilities of the hotel.

Ski lockers are on the ground floor,as well as toilets, separate male and female onsens and free laundry facilities. We booked the larger rooms which were comfortable with 2 western beds, small lounge, wardrobe, western style cubicle bathroom, small bar fridge and balcony which was nice to look out towards the mountains. It was not luxurious but quite comfortable and warm and clean. There is no smoking in bedrooms which is great !

I really enjoyed the onsens and had one nearly every day.It was spotlessly clean, equipped with hairdyer and body wash, shampoo and conditioner.Great to sooth the skiers legs after a full day skiing.

Breakfast was ok at St Moritz but we preferred the days that they had buffet breakfast as our 2 teenage sons preferred a western style breakfast. We also tried buffet dinner which was good lots of variety around 3,000 yen .We only had this once as we felt there was too much food to eat. After having lunch we preferred a smaller meal.

You could order pizza the day before which we did and it was great. You could sit in the lounge overlooking the snow which was wonderful.

St Moritz is a smaller hotel but quite cosy and comfortable .Rooms were warm, however the last 2 nights we were moved to a corner room which was freezing.I went to reception around 11pm and they kindly brought another heater to the room. The next day they found another room which was smaller but wasn't as cold.

If couples want to book this hotel book the larger room as it it more comfortable with a small lounge and wardrobe!

I would be happy to stay at St Moritz again as staff very friendly and helpful.Itwas great to stay in hotel where guests are not allowed to smoke in the bedroom rooms.

This hotel is suitable for families, couples or singles. It is a bit of a walk to the slopes but there is a shortcut 2 doors down with a steep walk up the hill.Easy to ski back.Overall a good hotel that doesn't cost too much.
Ski conditions great we had fresh snow about 60 cm when we arrived then a top up every few days.Plenty of variety of slopes to ski ......ShigaKogen is our favourite ski resort in Japan.Very quiet for night life but brilliant for skiing and not crowded.

We enjoyed the location as there was a few restaurants in the village, a Kasmiri restaurant which was excellent and a Japanese/Chinese restaurant which was sometimes closed through the week and a few other restaurant in the Main Street which are only open for lunch. All excellent food an well priced!

Regards Narelle and Greg Tuchin

Late January 2015

Great mountain - good terrain and snow - limited options at night (apart from your hotel) - but the best thing was it was nice and quiet.

St Moritz - great friendly staff - a little dated but that added to the character - good location.

Your service - very good - easy process to book - good options presented for our budget. No complaints!

We had a great trip thanks.

The St. Moritz was great thx. Everything we expected from a hotel in Ichinose. They served the eggs cold in the morning breakfast but a gentle word about how westerners like their eggs led to a change. All in all good value, great snow. Ill check in with you soon for next year!

Mid February 2014.

Left Madarao in a snow storm and went back to Nagano. it was dumping down.

Caught bus to Shiga Kogen. It took 4 hours to get there because of the storm. Couldnt see anything travelling up. It was a white out. Wasnt sure if I got off at the right place. No one had heard of the hotel. Ended up getting someone to ring hotel & the owner came and picked me up. No english people staying there. Was a nice place for the money and good location to lifts.

One thing that I did find annoying is that they allow people to smoke on the entry level and all you can smell is cigarette smoke which travels into reception and lounge area. Same thing applies here with the arrival meal.

Shiga Kogen is a good resort with plenty of run and a huge area to ski. I found the the new snow get skied out quickly compared to Madarao. This is more apparent where the three prince hotels are in Yamibiko.

Your service was very good and you answered all of my questions in all of my emails. Thanks for your help. If you have any good specials for next season please let me know.

Mid January 2014

Your service was excellent and much appreciated. The accommodation and price you secured for us was exactly what we were after.

And now, being aware of the holiday weekend in Japan in the middle of our stay on the snow, I appreciate how lucky we were that you were able to secure accommodation for us, with no holiday loadings. Thank you again.

The snow and skiing/boarding at Shigakogen was, as ever, excellent. I continue to be amazed at how few people you have to share the slopes with. Even with a long weekend in Japan, there were times on Saturday and Sunday when we had runs to ourselves. There was never any waiting at lifts. And, whilst it cannot ever be guaranteed, the weather was next to perfect – four nights of fresh snow, but basically clear, windless days!

We liked Hotel St Moritz. The rooms were comfortable and suited us. The onsen was adequate. Staff spoke (limited, but) enough English and were very helpful. The hotel wifi worked. Breakfast was good. But dinner was very limited. We only ate in house for dinner once, but this is not a problem as there are 3 or 4 other options for eating out which are quite good.

Also on-snow eating options for lunch are very good, so, with a decent breakfast and good lunch, dinner is less crucial.

As with most (all?) hotels in Ichinose, there is not much in the way of after-snow facilities, but there is a comfortable lounge so, with a few drinks and your own and the company of other guests, evenings can be quite pleasant.

And the big plus with the hotel is its location – just a 50 metre (albeit somewhat uphill – but it’s downhill going home!) walk to the nearest lift which effectively gives you ski/board access to the entire Shiga field. There’s about a 100 metre walk to the bus stop, shops, restaurants.

We are planning on returning to the snow in Japan and would, most likely, go back to Shiga and Hotel St Moritz.

"My finance and I stayed at Hotel St Moritz Shiga, Feb 20-24. Despite it being peak season the hotel was quiet, low key, and accordingly, relaxing.

There were a couple of other Western types in the place, one a Kiwi who had been travelling around a number of resorts on his one month Japan trip; He'd been to Hakuba and Nozawa Onsen where he'd met a many Australians. In addition to the great snow conditions, its 'magical powder', he rated Shiga Kogen for its low count of Antipodean neighbors.

We drove there in my old Mitsubishi Pajero Junior which struggled mightily to make it up the last 10k climb in heavy snow. We might not have made if it my better half didn't have the good fortune to be born a Canadian.

There is an onsen bath in the basement beside the lockers and the changing rooms. It's a basic hotel type Japanese bath that doesn't pretend to be more than functional - there are no windows for example - but it feels more than just adequate after a day exploring the many areas and trails of the resort.

Breakfast was included in the room price and was decent with a fairly wide selection of Japanese and Western breakfast staples.

We didn't sample the evening fare opting for the what we were told were limited options down the village. One night we ate at an Okinawan place that we good...nice sake and Okinawan dishes. Two nights we ate at a Nepalese place where we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves scoffing down curries and nan a-plenty.

Hotel St Moritz with its location a couple of minutes walk from the lifts and its reasonable prices was a good choice for us, an evaluation that is primarily driven by the wonderful, wonderful conditions we had on the slopes. It's all about the resort."

"We stayed for 5 nights at Hotel St Moritz in mid January, a family of 4 with 2 older kids.

Staff were welcoming, friendly enough and efficient despite the language difficulty at times but thats our issue really, as we are the visitors to Japan and its all part of the experience.

We had booked dinner for our first night and whilst relatively expensive, it was very nice (order the Japanese dinner not Western as other guest commented they were disappointed with it) the multi course japanese dinner however we found excellent, and we certainly didn't leave hungry.

You can eat elsewhere at Ichinose for cheaper ( the nepalese Curry house for eg) but beyond that you have to search for other dinner options.

Breakfast at St Moritz were buffet style, and mix of japanese and western available and you could go back for as much as you liked so we thought it was very good value compared to other japanese hotel experiences we had where you paid for each portion.

Found the Kitchen and dining room staff to be very nice and always tried to please.

As others have said hotel is little dated in decor but everything is still clean and presentable.

We had a 4 share room with small ensuite capsule bathroom which suited our needs, but the onsen in the basement is the best option for washing/showering in any comfort.

Beds were comfortable and room was warm enough but no control over the temp.

Not much to do in the evenings except watch the sumo on the TV in your room.

Access to ski lifts was OK once you found the short cut, with small kids or if you were not that fit you would struggle with the little climb up the access way. If your a confident skier you can ski back to the front door in the afternoons when snow was good if you risked a bob sled run down the access path.

Ski storage locker room in basement with lockers just big enough for 1 set of skis and your boots. No equipment drying facility for jackets, gloves etc, and limited hanging space for this in your rooms which can be a pain as the room becomes a bit of a chinese laundry.

Overall we found St Mortitz clean, comfortable and convenient.

Would we go back to St Moritz? Probably, but we would probably also look around at other alternatives at Ichinose as well.

Snow was brilliant!"

"Hotel St Moritz Shiga is situated at one end of Ichinose Village, the end you approach from Nagano Station.

It is clean, comfortable and caters well for a place to relax and recover from a hard day's skiing or snowboarding.

Beds were comfortable though the loose bedspread/blanket tended to get kicked off during the night.

The bathrooms are 'capsule' style and very small. The hot water cut in and out, but wasn't overly annoying. However, after my first shower in the room I used the onsen to shower/bathe/rinse. The onsen was quite spartan in the sense that there were no towels provided in the adjoining room - guests needed to bring a modesty towel (provided) from the room, as well as the bathroom towel to dry off. Supplying towels in the change room next to the onsen would improve the experience. The onsen itself was good - only an indoors onsen, but good, and helped relieve tired muscles at the end of the day.

The lobby bar was never open while we were there, and we were there across a weekend. Further, when guests wanted a little apres drink/chat in the lobby after dinner, the lights were turned down, then off, giving us the hint we weren't really welcome to stay in that area. Still, better that than have rowdy guests disturb the sleep of guests in the rooms above. On a positive note, there was no issue with guests taking their own alcohol into the lobby/lounge area and alcohol is readily available in both the hotel vending machines and hotel shop.

Staff were accommodating enough. Yamamoto san booked restaurants in the village for us a couple of times when requested to do so. There are very few dining options in the village that are open to the public. There are plenty of hotels, but some allow only their guests to dine in their hotel.

Access to the snow is not ski in ski out, but there's a cut out path adjacent to the hotel/building a couple of doors down and you have a short, easy climb to Lift 28. From there you can access the whole mountain lift by lift.

Back to the hotel - it is a bit dated in terms of its decor, but that is the same as another hotel we stayed at in Shiga Kogen a couple of years ago. Hotel St Moritz was better than the other hotel. Although it is a bit dated, it is clean and 'did the job' adequately for us. Breakfast was good, I thought, but some of my companions (we were there as a group of 8) weren't happy about the food not being as hot as it could be.

All in all, an enjoyable experience from a hotel that could make some simple improvements to lift it to a new level."

"This was a last minute booking for Christmas and we were lucky to find anywhere with availabilty.

The property itself is well located in ichinose but very dated. It seems that the management are winding down the property as several of the common areas were closed.

Staff were friendly enough.

Bedrooms were similarly dated with very small bathrooms.

Dinner at the hotel was very disappointing - a bizarre mix of japanese and western style fast food.

Although Ichinose does not have a huge number of dining options there are definately better places to eat."

Late Feb 2017

I thought your service was excellent, you were always prompt with your responses and able to answer any questions I had.

The accommodation was adequate, comfortable and pretty much what I was expecting, the staff at the Hotel were very helpful and a happy to organise anything else we required such as booking other restaurants for dinner. The rooms were always cleaned and beds made up each day. Only criticism would be the lack of drying or hanging space in the room, however it would probably be okay if we didn't have 3 staying in what would normally be a 2 person room.

Getting around the resort was a little tricky as the lifts all opened an closed at different times which made it a challenge to always end up getting back to the right side of the mountain to ski home, once we worked out the times it was okay. The resort offered some of the best tree skiing I have ever had and we were lucky with some good snowfalls earlier in the week of our stay.

Thank you for organising our booking

Kind regards,
Phil.

Late Feb 2017

We enjoyed 5 days skiing at Madarao, mid February 2017. Our accommodation was at the Madarao Resort Hotel which was very comfortable. It has a delightful onsen, good buffet breakfast and is well located to the ski lifts. The hotel does need an upgrade but remains clean and adequate for our needs on a ski holiday. There are some nearby restaurants which provide some good dining options for dinner.

Hisae was brilliant with her help in organising our Japanese ski trip and we will be contacting her soon to book our next trip for 2018!

Many thanks
Sally

Mid Feb 2017

We had a fabulous skiing trip at Madarao ski resort (mid Feb 2017).

The resort was what we expected, a smaller compact place, uncrowded with mostly un-groomed runs, off piste - powder paradise. The Madarao combine with the Tangram resorts catered for skiers and snowboarders, the beginners and advanced (the tree runs were great challenge). We stayed in the Madarao Resort Hotel, a ski in-out accommodation.

The hotel wasn’t anything special, but the staff was wonderful. The hotel has a well maintained onsen (again not crowded, definitely a bonus). There is a number of little restaurants - bars within walking distance from the hotel and they delivered tasty japanese food.

I would not recommend this place for the people chasing some night life or shopping. This place is definitely for people who want ski or snowboard in powder (without ski patrol chasing them….). It is picturesque environment (the views from the top of the resorts Madarao -Tangram are spectacular.

What a great trip. Fantastic snow. All 3 places we stayed at are amazing. Your organizational skills are to be applauded. Bus transfers to each location was very simple. Madarao Kogen Hotel was a real standout for us. Room 417 remember that number (what a great view – see attached photo).  Chuo Taxis are the way to go – amazing service – on time – every time.

Cannot wait to book again for next year. Keep up the great work.

Mid January 2017

We had a great experience thanks and all the accomodation booking etc went perfectly smoothly.

Madarao ski resort was a great experience and for me personally probably the best.

Madarao Kogen hotel was great and a wonderful safe place for the kids and amazing staff but dinner options around the village are pretty limited and you have to plan well ahead to get into places to get a dinner. The hotel was too expensive for dinner but the breakfasts were great.

Your assistance in this trip was fantastic.

Thanks so much again.

Your service was very professional and you were so knowledgable and patient about my queries, which you always responded to promptly.  I would have no hesitation in using Japan Snow Accommodation in the future, if the opportunity arises and will recommend your business to friends and family. We had so much fun and hope to return to Madarao next year.

Mid January 2016

We had an amazing holiday in Japan, we are a family of 4 with 2 boys and it was such a great experience for us all. Hisae's suggestions and recommendations with regards to accommodation and which mountains to visit were exactly what we were after, Japanese village culture and awesome snow !

We stayed in Madarao, approx 40 mins from Myoko by car where we stayed at the Madarao Mountain resort , a ski in ski out hotel at the top of the chairlift. The indoor/outdoor onsen at the resort was beautiful and a welcome relief after a day on the mountain. Whilst Madarao is much smaller than Myoko there were a several restaurant choices at the hotel as well as nearby.

Snow quality at both the areas we visited was excellent, no crowds and enough English signage to get by.

I would highly recommend Madarao Kogen Hotel, we cant wait to go back !

Thanks Hisae :)

We had a wonderful trip to Japan. The resort at Madarao Kogen was excellent. We were well looked after and had wonderful snow. I very much appreciate all of your help. Everything was well organised and I appreciated your help with ski lessons etc. Kind Regards Deanne Day

Mid january 2016

Firstly I’d like to thank you for the incredible support you provided in organising not only the accomodation but also the ski lessons for both the children and adults. As the ski school got very busy over the weekend, having all of the bookings already made, and paid for, meant that all we had to do was enjoy the time on the snow.

The kids lessons were super fun, according to our boys, with the instructors speaking good mid-level english and being very patient with all of the varying levels of ability within the group. Our kids were competently skiing basic runs by the end of day 2 and intermediates by day 5. Our private lesson was also incredibly good value with our instructor, Koji, doing a great job at getting us to the point of being able to independently ski the easier intermediate runs in 3 days.

Maderao Kogan Hotel was the perfect introduction to skiing in Japan. The 4 bed western room was perfect for our family of 2 adults and 2 boys aged 10 and 7. The room was relatively small, as most Japanese accomodation is, but was well appointed, clean, and warm. Without at doubt, the onsen, located in the basement of the hotel, was the highlight of the hotel. Being able to soak in the warm water outside, while snow flakes fell on your face was just magic. The breakfast and dinners in the hotel were fairly repetitive, but of a good quality and quantity, with a mix of western and japanese options at ever meal. We had a few dinners at restaurants in the village which were very good too, but for anyone reading this review, I highly recommend you book the day before to ensure they have room for your party.

All in all, we can’t say enough good things about Japan Snow Accommodation or Hisae and will definitely be booking again for the 2017 season.

Thanks
Patrick

Late December 2015

My husband, our 7 years old daughter and me had a great time in Madarao, we were staying in a wayositu room. There are two restaurants in the hotel, one is buffet restaurant and one is Japanese restaurant. We tried to book two of the other restaurants we wanted to go close to the hotel for some of the nights but unfortunately they were fully booked and we ended up to have 5 nights buffet and 2 nights in the Japanese restaurant ( almost couldn't book as the Japanese restaurant was fully booked as well ).

My girl has joined the two activities at night for kids in New Year time, one was playing games with the other kids ( see attached photo ) and one was making Japanese New Year rice cake. We also watched the fire torch show and fireworks on the 31st. ( see attached photos ).

The manager, Toru can speak very good English and is very helpful. In the resort, there are variety of food to choose from eg. Japanese, western, pizza, cakes, ice-cream etc. for lunch in the restaurants. However, chairlifts there are rather slow and some of them we needed to walk uphill to access. We have our own gear thus can not make comment on the rental shop.

Hope this help !

Regards,

Christine Chow

Mid janiary 2016

For our boys first time skiing (they are 6 and 8) and our first time in a long time, skiing Madarao was absolutely perfect!

Everything was easy, friendly, clean, safe and the skiing was terrific. The resort was so convenient to the slopes and having the onsen on site was a great and easy way to relax at the end of the day. The lack of crowds made skiing a pleasure and the ski school for our boys, while often booked out, were very good with our boys. The resort was so easy to get to from Tokyo that travelling was very simple. For this holiday, our first time, it was perfect. My only criticism would be the lack of something to do after skiing. As a young family we are not looking for "night life" but it would have been nice to have more of a village atmosphere to walk around and find different places for dinner and "people watch." We spent an afternoon over at Nozawa Onsen which looked to have a few more dining options and more of an atmosphere.

We had such a great time that we are looking to go again in February/March 2017. Because our experience booking through you was so good, we would like to use you again.

Many thanks - Kirsten

We had a great time at Madarao kogen hotel.
The hotel was very good had everything one needed.
It would be good if the hotel offered other food other than buffet in the evening of the price was more affordable for the buffet.
The service was very good, very pleasant and helpful staff.
We will return in a couple of years I hoping.
We would highly recommend your hotel and wonderful mountain

Mid February 2015

We loved Madarao Kogen

Firstly, thank you for your help booking the accommodation. Everything was easy and professional.

The accommodation was great. The views at Madarao Kogen hotel were great. It was so nice to look straight up at the mountain. The staff were very friendly. Very easy with the skin in ski out option. We had just been to myoko Kogen so it was wonderful to not have to deal with catching overcrowded buses to the mountain each day. The Japanese restaurant was fantastic!! The buffet was just ok. The staff always were helpful in booking restaurants for us.

The 1st couple of nights we stayed at the sister hotel. We all thought got it was great too. The rooms were huge. Lovely staff and never had to wait more than a few minutes for the mini bus.

I am sure my husband has go pro footage, but I will add a few photos.

I hope this has helped. Hope to book again next season

Take care

February 2015

Our stay at Madarao Kogen Hotel was excellent, loved every minute. The staff were wonderful and extremely helpful. The view of the mountain from the hotel could not be better.

Madarao mountain has a wide variety to keep every level skier/boarder happy.

I would advise guests to remember to bring Yen as there is no ATM on Madarao mountain or village and to book private lessons in advance.

Thankyou Hisae for help with bookings

Thanks for your e-mail. Here are some comments on Madarao Kogen Resort:

Old and dated resort, needs a serious facelift!.The Japanese restaurant was good, but often closed due to lack of customers. The buffet restaurant was not so good. The bar/cafeteria was closed for most of the time. Very nice General Manager, he helped me a lot when I needed to go to the hospital. Great Onsen!

I´m afraid we won´t go back to Madaro Kogen Resort again.

February 2014

We had great time in Japan. A really special family holiday, made all the better by the wonderful people at Madarao.

A special thank you to the hotel manager, Toru, who helped us every day and then saved us from a very difficult trip home when all transport was stopped by 2.5m of snow. Even though we had checked out of Madarao, we rang Toru, from Nagano to help us find emergency accommodation in a town where every where was booked out. What a relief to feel we had a friend to ask for help.

Also a special thank you to the hire team, who improved our Japanese and greeted us every morning with a smile. My son and I were able to swap between snowboarding and skiing in the same short stay!

I must also mention the wonderful staff at the ski school who went out of their way to find us both instructors and translators.

And finally to you Hisae, for following our booking all the way and making sure everything ran smoothly. All we had to worry about was powdery tree runs, great food, amazing onsen and improving our Japanese with locals, guests and staff.

We are already thinking about our next trip and recommend it to every one, although we also want Madarao to remain our secret snowy spot.

Thank you very much,

I have attached some pictures from our trip below.

Late February 2014

The time we spent in Madaro was simply amazing!

There was a kind of "cinema" festival in a screen made of snow! Very nice!

The western type room we got, was confortable with an amazing view! We have been in the hot spring bath which was an interesting experience!

The dinner is special and the breakfast is good.

We rent skis sets in the hotel for my wife and daughter and the negative point is that their ski boots were not so good, opening very often! But anyway was ok!

I certainly reccommend Madarao Kogen Hotel to my friends and I am sure that I will return next winter!

Thanks a lot!

Best regards,
Carlo

Mid February 2014

Thank you for everything you did for us. We had the most amazing time and everything went like clockwork.

Your communication with us was prompt, the booking and organisation was efficient and extremely easy.

Madarao Kogen was unbelievable! We had amazing snow and the accommodation was fabulous.

The buffet for breakfast and dinner was scrumptious. Toru, the Manager was great, as was the rest of the staff.

Madarao Ski field has conditions and terrain to suit all standards of skier and snowboarder. Lots of ski trails for those who like to ski on-piste and loads of tree skiing and black ungroomed runs for powder hounds like us. There is a variety of runs available, especially if you like to be adventurous.

The accommodation was very spacious for Japanese standards and the hotel had great facilities such ski hire, souvenir shop and café. There was a general meeting area where wifi could be accessed. Lockers for your skis and boards were an added bonus and access to the mountain was outside the ski room door.

We are very interested in returning to Madarao and would appreciate any packages you have for the 2014/2015 season.

Once again thank you for all your help."

Kindest regards,
Sharon and Trevor Monk

Early January 2014

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Madarao, everything was fantastic.

It was what I had been dreaming of ever since I picked up the brochure.

I am very happy, it was the first time I have ridden in powder snow. We were lucky to have lotts of fresh snow!!

The hotel was great and Toru the manager was very helpful.

We have been very lucky and seen a lot on our travels and now we are heading south and making our way back to Tokyo before returning home to try and cook some of the wonderful food we have eaten."

Late December 2013

We had a great time. The accomodation was clean and good... a bit small but ok. We loved the onsen.

It was a bit difficult for us as we didnt speak Japanese and many of the staff were not fluent in english - this was especially difficult with the lessons. We still had a great time tho.

Toru at reception was very helpful...made sure we were well looked after and had what we needed and that all activities were arranged properly.

The food was good - a good variety.

Thanks for a wonderful trip."

Late December 2013

I just wanted to give you some feedback from our holiday in Japan.

Other than the country being one of the most beautiful places we have ever visited, the hospitality and friendliness shown to us from the staff at Madarao Kogen Hotel was superb.

All the staff were very attentive and helpful but particularly a gentleman named Toru who seemed to take us under his wing and nothing was too much trouble.

I believe you are in contact with him from time to time so please pass on our heartfelt thanks for his assistance, it made our snow holiday even more memorable than what it would have already been.

Late December 2013

We had a wonderful stay at the resort for my parents 70th birthday.

As my little one is only 5 and we only had a short time we mainly used the kids area. The staff were fantastic throughout the resort and treated us like family.

My Irish husband enjoyed his first experience of an Onsen.

Everybody was very kind and showed him the ropes. We hope to return and use the ski slopes!"

From Michelle

February 2013

It was an excellent family resort.

Staffs were friendly and service was good.

When I first stepped into my room, the view was stunning. It's an extremely beautiful view that I've ever seen. It's just like a picture that you could only see on your Xmas card. The room was a combined western and japanese style. It was spacious.

I could also enjoy the free hot spring everyday even it was crowded sometimes.

The breakfast and dinner buffet was nice, food was delicious with various western, japanese and chinese style.

Definitely, I will come back to this hotel again."

By Kathy

The hotel was good, though we only stayed one night.

I think the room we had was an upgrade, and was great - roomy and nicely appointed. However, the bathroom stank quite unpleasantly of cigarette smoke - we didn't request a non-smoking room though!

The breakfast buffet was very nice and the service, location etc. was top-notch.

The parking was not undercover, but we did not have to dig our car out."

Deecember 2012

We stayed 3 nights at Madarao Kogen Hotel,

We enjoyed a very spacious room with a gorgeous view of the ski slopes.

The hotel is well-located with the bus-stop for buses to Iiyama city barely 20 steps down the road, and a few interesting dining places within a 5-minute stroll.

On the downside, there is no in-room wifi, and this being a large hotel that seems to be very popular with young families and school groups, the breakfast and dinner buffet is pretty basic. I paid 3600 yen per person for the dinner buffet and I felt it was definitely not worth the money. There was no a la carte menu."

By Synthia

Thanks so much for your help in booking our holiday.

Madarao is an excellent family resort and the Accommodation was very good.

Madarao Kogen hotel is reallly good other than the lack of smoke free hotel rooms. Our Hotel room reeked of cigarettes. Your list of useful websites helped me enormously .ie the hyperdia site, and the time of the nagaden bus lines .

The snow was up to the usual high japanese standard. We had heaps of snow. over 1 metre in the week.

we are thinking of madarao and maybe Hakuba next year."

It was my first time there, so i did'nt know what to expect, but to my surprise it was better than what I anticipated.

The hotel is in the best location, where you can ski from the front door.

All the staff are excellent and very helpful, there is always someone there that can speak english, although not fluent, but enough to get you by.

The rooms were clean, and I had a great view of the ski runs and the Madarao mountain.

The restaurant served great sukiyaki and shabu shabu.

I made the booking through Japan Snow, Hisae made all the arrangements for me and made it easy."

I am very happy to stay in Madarao Kogen Hotel.

There is a nice place, especially of the hot spring.

If they can open the night ski on Friday and Sunday after Jan 1. It is much better."

Mid Feb 2017

What a great trip. Fantastic snow. All 3 places we stayed at are amazing. Your organizational skills are to be applauded. Maruken Sanso with Mamoru was a great location with service second to none. Bus transfers to each location was very simple. Chuo Taxis are the way to go – amazing service – on time – every time.

Cannot wait to book again for next year. Keep up the great work.

Mid January 2017

Yes we had a wonderful stay at Maruken Sanso. The staff were friendly and as helpful and hospitable as can be. The breakfasts were delicious and the company in the lodge was excellent. The onsen was a great place to go at the end of a day's skiing, and the village had a lovely atmosphere, with so many interesting places to eat.

Your service was faultless and friendly.

Thanks so much.

Mid January 2017

We had an amazing snow trip!  Thanks for organizing the accommodation.

Marukan San was in a fabulous location, close to the gondala and the main street of Nowzawa Onsen.  The accommodation was clean and comfortable.  The host was extremely courteous and helpful, going out of his way to get ski tickets organized for us every morning.  I loved the Japanese breakfast which were plentiful and filling. One of the best part of the accommodation was the in-house hot bath – fantastic after a day on the slope!  We had public onsens all around us, all ‘free’ to use.

It would be great if there were instructions in the onsens in English so that we could respectfully comply with local traditions.

We will definitely be going back to Nowzawa Onsen and hope to stay at the same accommodation!

Warm Regards,
Perri Lim

Late january 2015

Our trip was so good!

It was very easy to check in even though we were arriving in the middle of the night, the host was lovely
and told us everything we ended to know about the accommodation. Rooms very neat and tidy and one
of our rooms had a great view of the town.
The breakfasts we had included were a great mix of Japanese and western style foods + coffee which
was great. We also had dinner in house one night, cooked by the hosts which was delicious traditional
food.

For most of our group this was our second visit to Nozawa Onsen and the snow was much better than
this time so we were all very pleased.

Such a cute little ski village and the accommodation is very close to the lifts (5 min walk). We also made use
of the in-house onsen and had it to ourselves most of the time which was great
Loved staying here and were
grateful for everything the hosts did to help out!

Early January 2016

Thank-you for giving me the opportunity to review on our recent holiday to Japan.

We really did book at the last minute, and we're very happy to find such great accomodation. 'Maruken Sanso' proved to be the perfect cultural introduction & our hosts could not do enough to make us feel welcome.

The meals were fantastic & the in-house onsen was most welcome after a day on the slopes !

The actual resort & village was very quant. We found the skiing & lift coverage most suitable to our level of expertise. Also, all of the mountain staff were really friendly, most speaking some English. Maruken Sanso was only a 5 minute walk to the gondola.

I also would like to thank-you personally, @ 'japansnowaccomodation.com', for assisting us in booking our holiday. Hisae, you returned both my emails & phone calls. Great customer service

I have already passed on your contact details to work colleagues & have no hesitation in recommending both your service & Maruken Sanso . All up, a great holiday.

THANK-YOU !
Kate

Late December 2015

We have been travelling mainly on and sometimes off to Japan since 2003. We travelled to Honshu, Nagano area, since we had a brilliant trip the year before skiing Nozawa Onsen and Madarao.

We have used Hisae and the team at Japan snow accommodations, which takes a lot of the hard work out of planning the trip. Also we have asked for alternatives and there was a quick answer and good information at all times.

The snow conditions weren’t as good as usual but, but this was put down to the El Nino effect in the Pacific area. We stayed at the Maruken Sanso in Nozawa Onsen; we had been there the year before. The family were just as accommodating as the year before and made everyone in the small lodge welcome.

This is a very short walk to the main gondola and is good for an early start on a powder morning, not too much walking. They have an onsen bath for the guests and that takes care of the sore muscles. One of the ancient 14 onsen is just down the road, for the old world onsen charm. They have ski storage, hot room for the boots and a workshop for running r repairs. Another cleaver trick is the houses, hotels and accommodations pump the onsen water on the road, the road is never to Icey to walk on.
