Early January 2015

My travel mates and I had a spectacular time at Woody House Kazamidori. Midori was delightful and such a sweet host: She and her husband went out of their way to pick us up and drop us off, give us directions and recommendations, and make the most incredible breakfasts! The entire house was cozy and comfortable, including the bedrooms and baths. Woody House Kazamidori was truly our favorite place that we stayed in Japan. We hope to go back and stay there again!

Myoko was also amazing - we had some of the best skiing of our lives at Akakura Kanko. On-mountain and side-country both offered great woods skiing, and it hardly stopped snowing our whole time there! We also took a side trip to see the Snow Monkeys - well worth it. We will definitely go back to Myoko to continue exploring amazing skiing.

We thank you so much for providing great recommendations, and for helping coordinate this wonderful experience. Your promptcommunication helped us out tremendously as we planned our trip.

Thanks again - until next time!

We loved our time in Japan thank you Hisae.  Your assistance with bookings was very efficient and helped make the process seamless. We really enjoyed our stay at Ryokan Jon Nobi and the staff and locals we encountered throughout Nozawa Onsen were friendly, efficient and helpful. We would definitely recommend a stay for families. And importantly, the snow was incredible!

A couple of pics attached for you.

Thank you again Hisae for your help in making our trip so enjoyable.

Late December 2015

Ryokan Jonnobi is ideal for a family who want to experience Japanese style accommodation, in the heart of Nozawa Onsen village. Great location, handy to shops and cafes, and very close to the Yu Road [a travelator “road”] which delivers you to the Hikage ski trail.

Our 2 rooms accommodated our family of 6 comfortably, in tatami rooms with ensuites. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was extensive, catering for both Japanese and western foods experiences. Jonnobi has 2 hot spring rooms which are open to the public, as well as 2 private hot spring rooms for exclusive use by the guests; the latter 2 are open to the sky, so that the snow fell languidly through the opening onto our steaming bodies – a great thrill. Jonnobi ticked all our boxes.

The Hikage ski trail was a great family place, well organized with good instructors, ski equipment hire and plenty of eating choices.

The staff of Japan Snow Accommodation [read Hisae] gave great tips in the planning stages of our visit. eg. Take the bullet train from Tokyo to Iiyama Station and a bus from there to Nozawa Onsen village.

Ryokan Jonnobi is a 5 minute walk from the bus station. The whole experience satisfied all members of our family aged 10 to 74 years.

Mid January 2015

Many thanks for all your time and assistance with booking our Nozwa Onsen experience staying at Jon Nobi Ryokan. We found the accommodation at Jon Nobi very warm, quiet, with comfortable beds after a full day of skiing and the breakfast selection of Asian and western foods each morning contained plenty of choice for both adults and children.

There were two private onsens that could be used exclusively plus a male and female onsen open for all to use. These were all kept very clean and neat. Toiletries and hair dryers were also supplied in the private and public onsen areas that added a lovely touch. Kimonos and slippers were also supplied in our rooms for going to and from the onsens which were quite a novelty for the children.

Jon Nobi is situated in a great location at the top of the town and such an easy walk to the ski field via the moving walkway (Yu Road travelator). A huge plus at the end of each day was the ability to leave our skis at the St. Anton Ski hire rooms. This made the end of a long day skiing with kids so much more pleasurable than having to cart skis and poles back to our accommodation.

The slopes at Nozwa Onsen are great for families wanting to ski together and there is a variety of slopes depending on your skill level and ability with plenty of connecting lifts. There was also a large children's play park at the base of the slopes near St. Anton ski hire centre with rubber tyres and sleds that the children could use.

The only issues we had whilst in Nozwa Onsen was that the Ryokan style of accommodation was probably a bit too small to accommodate a family of 4 all with ski clothing to dry at the end of each day in our room plus all of our luggage. If there had been a drying room on the premises we would have had more room to move. In saying this, we wanted to try the Ryokan style of accommodation to experience a more traditional Japanese style of accommodation. Knowing the layout of a Ryokan and taking into consideration the amount of stuff we all had, we should have booked two rooms side by side.

The only other disappointing issue was as a guest of Jon Nobi we thought that we would have been able to dine in the restaurant at least one night during our stay, however we were told that the restaurant was fully booked during our stay. We since found out that the bookings were from people staying else where and not at Jon Nobi. We thought as guests staying at the Ryokan, we would have had first option to restaurant bookings. That was a bit sad Emoji.

However, the overall experience was wonderful and we enjoyed staying in a different location for part of our holiday. Many thanks again Hisae for all your assistance and for making our holiday in Nozwa Onsen very enjoyable.

Mid February 2017

We enjoyed our time there.  Very friendly hosts and authentic Japanese experience.  Possibly a little too far out of town though. We did a mixture of alpine touring and downhill skiing.  Unfortunately we didn’t have great snow for the first part of our trip but we all thought it would be great to ski with fresh powder.  We came back to Furano for a day of slack country skiing and it was very nice.

I found your service to be excellent. Very helpful and prompt.

Sheila

Resort
1. Great resort for beginners. The green hill is wide and long, allowing for beginners to space out on the slope so it's less likely that they'll bump into each other. There are several ski schools that operate on the hill and youre bound to be able to get a lesson if youre willing to share a session with strangers.
2. There is a counter where english speaking guests can raise their questions and the rest of the field is easy enough to navigate without much being lost in translation.
3. The eatery on location is good but is also quite limited, guests are encouraged to look into the multiple pensions/restaurants around the slopes for meals if they require variety.

Accommodation.
1. Great value for its price.
2. The meals prepared were varied and tasted very good! Definitely one thing we missed.
3. Quite far from town center. For those who want to eat out after skiing, it's recommended that you get a car or hire a cab to send you back to the pension. The host provides pick up and drop off in the mornings (8-9 am) and early evenings (5-7pm) and we found that it fit our schedules perfectly.4. Given the price and the transport option, it's no surprise that this pension sees a lot of customers. Book early!

Service
1. You guys are amazing as always Hisae.Definitely looking forward to use your service again.

Thank you.

Arif

Late Feb 2016

We were made to feel very welcome by Joe and his family as Akaneyado and felt like we were staying in their house which was very cosy and tidy.

The breakfast and occasional evening meal that we had were healthy, fresh and traditional Japanese style.

Joe even cleared snow off our car for us and also provided a lot of useful information about the local area and the skiing.

The accommodation is in a nice rural location about 20 minutes from Furano and an hour from Tokachi-dake.

Thanks to Joe and his family - we will be back!

Early January 2017

We had a wonderful trip thank you.

Taurus apartments were perfect for our holiday. Hiro is a lovely man & he keeps the property spotless. The apartment was really comfortable & clean.

It was a bit hard to get used to separating our rubbish, but we had it sorted in the end. The apartments can be noisy. We had a downstairs apartment, with another above us. Unfortunately we had a very noisy guest staying above us for several nights who very disruptive. But that would be my only complaint.

I can highly recommend Taurus apartments & hope to get back one day soon. Many Thanks,

Carey Menico

"We recently stayed a week in Tsuru Apartment this February 2010 and we liked it a lot.

The location was perfect: a few meters from the Kitanomine ski lift. The one bedroom apartment was cosy, warm, clean, quiet.

Mr Hiro is a great person. He was very helpful.

We had diner twice in his small restaurant and enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the food (the salmon with miso sauce was our favorite).

One tip for coffee-addicted people: bring your own coffee machine or filter, as this was not provided in the kitchen.

Enjoy your stay at Tsuru and Furano, which is a quiet place to relax, far away from the crowd.

We definitely recommend this place."

Late December 2013, Ben and I absolutely loved Pension Ringojam.

Osamu & Eiko Otaka were wonderful hosts and Pension Ringojam had a very homely feel.

We plan to go back as soon as we can and if possible we will stay at Pension Ringojam again.

Highlights were a traditional Nabe dinner and spending time practising our Japanese with the other guests.

Madarao Ski Resort was definitely one of our favourites - probably up with Cortina (or better), but we were a little early for the best snow. Osamu recommended mid Jan-mid Feb. It was still a great mountain and the midnight skiing on New Year's Eve was pretty special.

Really good challenging runs and great tree skiing opportunities.

Thanks
Leith Macintosh

"The owners were very friendly people.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Elm Pension and plan to return during March to try snow shoeing as recommended by Toshi-san.

The meals were big, filling and delicious.

The room was perfectly heated and the beds comfortable.

Overall a great experience.

Thank-you very much."

"Owner speaks great English and both he and his wife are very friendly and accommodating!

The room had a great alpine view and was spaciaous enough for our gear.

Well heated too.

No seats in the room though, so you will prob just sleep there.

Downstairs has a big tv and dining table to chill out.

They served up a great French Dinner and breakfast as well."
