To get access to Mt. Iwaki, the best place to base yourself would be Aomori Spring Resort, which is located about 90 minutes from Shin-Aomori station or Aomori airport. Shin-Aomori station is about 3 hours 20 minutes from Tokyo by bullet train.
The resort has a ski in ski out hotel called Rockwood Hotel & Spa and they run backcountry tours.
